History
The oldest vestiges were discovered in 1983, close to a farm during work of gas pipeline Livron-Livron-Crest. They were ashes, charcoal, shards, potteries, glares of flint having to come from a habitat in the open air having existed approximately 7000 years ago. Other vestiges, dating from the conquest of the area by the Romans having started as of 121 before J.C., were put at the day during agricultural work: an containing tomb of the bones and a medal with the effigy of Constantin, a Mercury bronze statuette (god commercial) of the ballot boxes with thousands of parts struck since the reign of Gallien (260 to 268) until Dioclétien (284 to 305).
A keep called Motte of the Round Tower rose since 1318 at the climax of Allex, later an immense square tower still gave him an aspect even more imposing. A hospital was created close to theSaint-Maurice church.
At the end of the 16th century took place of the wars of religion. Allex is taken by the troops of the "Alleged Religion Reformed" in 1574. Soldiers put dead to the priest of the place and five other ready. Jean d' Urre, in charge of the place with 120 men did not delay in his turn to be besieged there by the Dolphin of Auvergne, taken refuge in the Square Tower, him and its men were massacred there.
In 1790 Allex became place head of a canton including/understanding in addition to the commune of this name those of Ourches, Eurre, Montoison, Rochette and Vaunaveys.
The World War (1914-1918) did not save Allex. After the Armistice of June 1940, refusing the capitulation, a group of Resistant met on the Temple ground with the district of Shoe and it is here that parachutings coming from London were delivered.
A stele commemorating their exploits was set up on the plate, with the stones of the bridge of Livron which they had made jump.
